One natural disaster that I am concerned with is the Island of La Palma in the Canary Islands, off the east coast of Africa.(http://www.es.ucsc.edu/~ward/papers/La_Palma_grl.pdf). If there is an increase in equatorial rainfall(http://www.livescience.com/forcesofnature/051206_hurricane_forecast_2006.html), then the potential for the probability of the specified land slide event increases.
(http://www.es.ucsc.edu/~ward/papers/La_Palma_grl.pdf). I've also heard rumors about low lying coastal regions having a difficult time with flood, natural disaster insurance. I can't imagine that much of New Orleans was insured. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9170157/). Just a couple of things to think about. I'll post more later.
